How to Find Your Intuition
"Intuition is the whisper of the soul." - Jiddu Krishnamurti
Have you ever heard the advice “follow your intuition” or “listen to your gut”? Have you ever been confused about what that actually meant or what that would look like?
Have you ever gotten a gut feeling about something, didn’t listen to it in the moment, but you turned out to be 110% right? What if you could be connected to and trust those gut feelings most of the time?
What would it feel like if you no longer had to agonize over decisions or second-guess yourself or others?
I bet it would feel like alignment!
I recently released a new podcast called Aligned Motherhood where I talk about the real struggles of motherhood and how to handle them intuitively to expand your consciousness. If you identify as a mom, have a desire to connect deeply with yourself, your children, your partner, and the world, then you’re in the right place.
In Episode 3, I answer all of the above questions! I dive into what intuition actually is, where you might feel it in your body (based on your human design), how to connect to it, and how to follow it. If you’ve ever wondered how to quiet all the noise and tune into your inner knowing, this episode is a must-listen (scroll down to listen now)!
Everyone is born connected to their intuitive guidance. Yet, along the way, you become conditioned to listen to external sources instead of yourself. You may often find yourself wondering what others want you to do, instead of asking yourself first. You look for the least friction by trying to go with the conditioning you received from family, society, or friends.
Intuition is like listening to your higher self, the universe, divine guidance, source, etc. When you reconnect with your intuitive Self, this is what helps you act in alignment with how you want to live.
There are many practices that are helpful to quiet the mind in order to connect. Cultivating a practice of mindfulness is key to noticing what thoughts and emotions arise, without judgment. Mindfulness can help you notice when you’re trying to please other people or acting out of obligation. And those can be the times when you ignore your intuition the most.
I know I sometimes let this fall short too, but an amazing way to reconnect with your Self is to journal about your thoughts and recurring themes in your life. This is a great way to practice mindfulness by becoming aware of your usual cycles. When you feel called to, try writing about how you feel around certain people and in different situations.
Another tool for reconnecting to your intuition is to look at your unique Human Design.
I've been practicing getting in touch with my own intuition and helping my private clients connect with theirs for some time now. I've incorporated lots of tools to help with this over the years, but learning about Human Design and interpreting my chart has been such a game changer.
Plainly seeing where my instinctual knowing lies, as well as understanding the frequencies of the emotions that can affect that knowing, has been so eye opening. So I'd like to share with you some knowledge on how you can use your Human Design chart to help you connect to your intuition.
Splenic Energy Center (Red Arrow): This is the most ancient energy center and it's where our sense of safety, survival, and well-being (or not) are located. Each gate represents both an innate fear as well as a specific awareness potential within us. This center communicates with us in the NOW. Have you ever had a "gut feeling" about someone that turned out to be true? That gut feeling was your splenic center communicating with you!
Sacral Energy Center (Purple Arrow): The sacral holds the life-force energy. If you have this center defined (colored in), it means that your sacral communicates with you via specific noises emanating from your body. It will tell you in real time if you do or do not have energy for something or someone. This can be a powerful tool for following your intuition and setting boundaries around your energy!
G center (green arrow): This is your magnet. The G center literally pulls life towards you, ensuring that the people, experiences, places, etc. that you're meant to experience in this lifetime make their way into your aura. When defined, the G center gives you a consistent sense of direction in life. When undefined, you have the gift of knowing other people's direction. Learning to trust this magnet can be pivotal in following your soul's messages.
Solar Plexus (Emotional) Energy Center (Teal Arrow): This center can complicate things slightly, especially if you don't fully understand how your emotions operate in your body. If you have this center defined, it means that you won't have clarity in the moment, especially if the moment is emotionally charged in any way. If it's undefined, you have the potential to gauge the emotional climate and sense other people's waves, and/or you might absorb and amplify emotions, causing you confusion about your own.
Understand that your intuition won’t always make sense. It just IS. Emotions are not good or bad, they are just information. Remember the outcome of your decisions may not always be what you imagined, or even be favorable, but being guided by your intuition ensures that you are choosing the correct lessons for you in this lifetime.
All the answers you need are already inside of you. It’s your job to break down the conditioning, the overthinking, the second-guessing, and surrender. Simply TRUST your own inner knowing.
Remember too that you aren’t responsible for anyone else’s reactions to the choices you make or the boundaries you set based on your intuition. It is a healthy practice of stepping into your self-worth every time you can clearly communicate your needs.
For example, if your intuition is telling you that you need alone time to rest, it’s your responsibility to communicate that need to manifest time alone, regardless of any guilt tripping from your mind or what anyone else thinks about it.
The more you communicate your needs and live in alignment with this knowing, the easier it will be for your children to do the same. And wouldn’t it be nice if we could help them do that from the beginning?! Instead of letting decades of crap and conditioning pile up for them to work through as adults?
In Episode 3 of The Aligned Motherhood Podcast, I dive deep to share some personal examples of when I followed my intuition despite everyone (and my family) thinking I was nuts. I also share practical tips that can help you stay connected to & get back in touch with your intuition when it falls out of alignment.

P.S. Thank you to my clients, friends, and anyone I have ever met who doubted what they know to be true. I was inspired by all of you to share the real talk about intuition and record this episode of The Aligned Motherhood Podcast. Thank you for being my inspiration.
